This is a great opportunity for Scouts to earn a Snow Sports Merit Badge. If you prefer to just come out and ski or snow board, then this is for you too. Family members are welcomed.
We will be going to Bear Mountain Resort, but you can also use your lift ticket at Snow Summit Resort. All you do is take the shuttle that departs each resort twice an hour. So you get two resorts for the price of one lift ticket!!
There are a variety of packages available, even ski and snow boarding school for kids as young as 4 years old.
If you want to spend the weekend, three Troop families have offered to put you up in their Big Bear Mountain retreat for no cost; however, space is limited. If you only want to come out for the day, that’s okay too.
Helmet Rentals (Per BSA policy, required for all Boy Scouts) $7
On Veterans Day weekend Troop 54 scouts along with Mr. Wold, adult leaders and two eagle scouts Daniel and JP ventured to Amboy Crater. We hiked and explored caves and tunnels from an old volcano and up in the mountains to search for trilobite fossils. Back at camp we had a fun time setting off rockets. The weather was perfect and we all had a blast. I’ve enjoyed being webmaster these past 6 months and I would like to congratulate all the new scout leaders in our Troop.
A great weekend for Troop 54. In the Rio Hondo Renaissance Camporee, Troop 54 earned the coveted ‘Shovel’ which is given to the top troop. Great effort and extreme preparation led Troop 54 win this year. Alex Garcia, the Troop’s Senior Patrol Leader, the other leadership scouts, plus all of the parents and the Troop’s Scoutmaster – Lonnie Wold, lead the Troop in achieving this most significant win.
Congratulations to Daniel for achieving the highest rank in scouting, the rank of Eagle Scout. It was truly an honor to participate in and be present at the National Eagle Court of Honor for Daniel at Faith Lutheran Church. Family, friends and fellow scouts were in attendance and the ceremony was absolutely beautiful. During the ceremony the guest speakers were Mr. Taylor, Mr. Johnson and Mr. Masters, Daniel’s father. The stories told by the guest speakers were very inspiring especially to us scouts that we too can continue on our path and work hard towards eagle. What was cool too was that not only did Daniel’s grandfather attend, but to learn that he too is an Eagle Scout. The benediction was Daniel’s teacher, Mr. Morrow, and his words of thanks to scouts is truly heartfelt. A reception followed after the ceremony and there was a display of items from Daniel’s life as a scout from Cub Scout to Boy Scout, his uniform, scout caps, belt loops, merit badges and also his grandfather’s merit badge sash, patches and picture of when he was an eagle. That was truly fantastic. Congratulations Daniel!!
